Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a specific problem to come to therapy?
Not at all. While some people come to therapy during times of crisis, others come to gain insight, process life transitions, or invest in their personal growth. If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or simply curious about therapy, that's enough of a reason to begin.

What is Brainspotting, and how is it different from traditional talk therapy?
Brainspotting is a brain-body-based therapy that helps access and process trauma or stuck emotional patterns at a deeper level. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which relies heavily on language and logic, Brainspotting taps into the nervous system and subcortical brain, where trauma is stored. It’s especially helpful when you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or when words don’t fully capture your experience.

What if my partner doesn’t want to come to couples therapy?
That’s a common situation. If your partner isn’t ready or willing to attend, individual therapy can still be a meaningful way to explore your relationship concerns, reflect on your role, and identify what’s best for you.

How often will we meet and how long are sessions?
I begin all new clients at either a weekly or biweekly cadence to help build consistency and momentum. Standard sessions are 50 minutes, but I also offer 80-minute sessions for clients who prefer more time to dive in. In addition, I offer therapy intensives—extended sessions ranging from 2.5 to 4 hours—for those looking to make meaningful progress in a shorter time frame.

Can you help us if we’re unsure whether to stay together?
Yes. Couples therapy can provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore your dynamic, improve communication, and clarify your next steps—whether that’s healing together or parting with mutual respect. I'm here to help you both be honest, intentional, and heard.

Is therapy just venting, or will we have a plan?
It’s a mix of both. You’ll have space to bring what’s present each week, and we’ll also work together to identify goals and track progress. My style is active and collaborative—I’ll offer reflections, ask questions, and gently challenge you to go deeper when it feels appropriate.

How long will therapy take?
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Research shows that about 50% of clients see meaningful improvement after 12–20 sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work, especially when addressing complex trauma or long-standing patterns. Some clients come in for a few focused months, while others engage in therapy as an ongoing space for growth, reflection, and healing.
We’ll regularly revisit your goals and check in on what’s working to make sure the length and structure of our work feels aligned with your needs.
