The Therapist Behind the Name
Kendyl Davis, LMFT
Meeting you where you are—but not leaving you there.
Welcome to Without Borders Therapy. I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist offering individual and couples therapy across Tennessee and South Carolina. Services are available virtually in both states, and if you're located in the greater Nashville area, I also offer in-person sessions.
Ironically, I never thought I’d be a therapist. After a disappointing experience with a counselor in my teens, I’d pretty much written therapy off altogether—because who needs that, right? (Life’s sense of humor strikes again.) Little did I know, that early experience planted a seed. Years later, while working in an after-school behavioral program teaching social-emotional skills, I saw just how powerful a safe, supportive space could be. That mix of personal history and real-world experience made something click—and I knew therapy was the field of work I was meant for.
I started my therapy career in Nashville, Tennessee, where I fell head over heels for this work- not just the successes, but the flaws and challenges as well. As I expand my practice into South Carolina, I now offer virtual sessions for South Carolina clients while continuing to serve Tennessee clients both virtually and in-person (in the greater Nashville area). My Southern roots—from Mississippi to Tennessee to South Carolina—have shaped my understanding of the beautiful messiness and richness of our region. I bring cultural sensitivity, curiosity, and a down-to-earth presence to every session.
If you’re looking for a therapist who blends professionalism with warmth, humor, a healthy dose of sarcasm, and enough realism to keep it honest, I’d be honored to work with you.
Who I Work With
I work with:
Individuals navigating anxiety, identity shifts, burnout, and major life transitions
Couples experiencing high conflict, emotional disconnection, or working through affair recovery
Young adults and professionals who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about their next steps
Teens and adolescents exploring their identity, emotions, and relationships in a complex world
Many of my clients are facing the often invisible barriers that keep them from feeling fully present or connected—whether those come from past trauma, family dynamics, self-doubt, or relationship challenges. These struggles can feel isolating, but with the right support, healing and meaningful change are absolutely possible. Together, we’ll break through those internal and relational borders to help you build a fuller, more grounded life.
My Approach
My therapy style is strengths-based, systemic, and trauma-informed. I believe therapy should reflect your uniqueness—not a textbook formula. I draw from multiple models to design an approach that fits you.
Some of the evidence-based methods I integrate include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Attachment-Based Therapy
Restoration Therapy
Brainspotting
The Gottman Method (especially for affair repair and high-conflict couples)
I see individuals and relationships through a holistic lens, always taking into account your relationships, background, and environment.
Let’s work together to break through the borders holding you back and create something new.
